Pokémon Champions released almost a week ago and has seen VGC receive a huge upturn in interest and viewership.

Teambuilding can be one of the most complex parts of VGC and an important aspect to keep in mind is the speed of your Pokémon.

We will shortly be releasing a series of articles discussing Speed Control options in VGC; however, for now, please see the below table showing the speed tiers for all Pokémon legal in Regulation M-A

The number on the far left is a Pokémon’s base speed stat
Max = Speed boosting nature + Maximum EVs (Eg Timid, 32)
Neu = Neutral Speed nature + Maximum EVs (Eg Modest, 32)
Neg = Zero EVs with a Negative Speed nature (Eg Brave)
M scarf = Speed boosting nature + Maximum EVs + Choice Scarf
N scarf = Neutral Speed nature + Maximum EVs + Choice Scarf

An important speed modifier to keep in mind is Tailwind vs Choice Scarf. Tailwind doubles your speed stat so it’s a good idea to keep this in mind when building your own spreads to make sure your slower Pokémon are able to outspeed a particular choice scarf user.

Both ends of the spectrum are important to look at, depending if you want the immediate speed advantage or if you want to play with a Trick Room team.
