Decapolice: Unraveling the Mystery

You’re standing at a crime scene, the neon glow of the city reflecting off your detective badge. Playing as a rookie detective named Harvard Marks you’ll find yourself navigating the sprawling, crime-infested city called Broadstone. However, in Decapolice, criminal activity isn’t solely based in the real world! You’ll be diving headfirst into DECASIM, a virtual world meticulously crafted as a perfect copy of reality. Think of it as a digital doppelgänger of the city, complete with all the secrets, shadows, and shady characters Broadstone has to offer!

DECASIM allows you to reproduce every event, twist and turn that has ever gone down in the city. It’s like having a time-traveling detective’s notebook—one that lets you piece together the puzzle by reliving crucial moments.

But wait, there’s more intrigue! Some cases date back 12 years, while others are fresh off the criminal press. And guess what? A mischievous hacker has messed with the avatars, turning them into cartoonish figures. It’s like an RPG with a dash of noir and a sprinkle of whimsy.

Gameplay: The Art of Crime-Solving

Investigation Section:

  • In DECASIM, you’ll channel your inner Sherlock Holmes, exploring crime scenes, collecting/analysing evidence whilst piecing together timelines to connect the dots. The more you uncover, the closer you get to cracking the case

Confrontation: Battle Against Criminals:

  • Criminals won’t go down without a fight. How you deal with them is your choice. You can appeal to their better nature or take more drastic measures if required.
  • The combat system is still a bit mysterious from the trailers we have seen so far. Is it solely turn based? The trailers give off a Xenoblade vibe, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Choices Matter:

  • Will you play it by the book or bend the rules? The decisions you make impact the outcome.
  • Negotiate, interrogate, or go full-on action hero—it’s your call. Just remember, consequences echo through the virtual streets.

Release Date and Platforms

Originally slated for a 2023 release, Level-5 – during their LEVEL5 VISION 2023 II showcase – announced that the game needed “a bit more time” and pushed the release to “post 2024”. A tweet from the official Decapolice account clarified that the actual release date is indeed 2024. Phew!

But wait, there’s more! Just when we thought we had it all figured out, Level-5’s president and CEO, Akihiro Hino, dropped another bombshell. He confirmed that Decapolice won’t hit the streets until 2026. Apparently, they’re fine-tuning the visuals and content to make it truly… arresting.

So, to recap:

  • Original Release Date: 2023
  • Showcase Delay: Post-2024 (but actually 2024)
  • CEO’s Verdict: 2026 (for extra polish)

In the meantime, let’s sharpen our deductive skills and keep an eye out for any further updates. Who knows, maybe we’ll uncover a secret society of delayed-release-date conspirators!
